Sourdough Waffles

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: a few minutes per waffle

Yield: 9 waffles

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sourdough starter, active or discard

  • 1 cup flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup oil or butter, melted

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle iron.

  2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl.

  3. Drop batter into hot waffle iron and cook to preferred doneness.

  4. Repeat with remaining batter.

  5. Store leftovers with a sheet of parchment paper between stacks of waffles to prevent sticking.

Recipe Notes:

This recipe differs from most sourdough waffles out there. I like to add a little extra flour to the batter to help it be slightly more stable. I am not a fan of mushy waffles.
